American Legion Post 86
The Gray American Legion Post Number 86 was organized in 1919 and continues to be a highly active organization in support of the Gray Maine community in many worthwhile ways.
Leonard B. Tripp was the leading person in establishing Gray Post # 86 and served as the first Post Commander.
In 1937 the current American Legion Hall was dedicated in a community ceremony. The building is located on the west side of Lewiston Road just north of the village center. An addition to the back of the hall and a ramp on the side of the building to allow the handicapped full access was added but otherwise the original building is intact.
In addition to headquartering American Legion Post 86 members the building is also the home of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 86, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 86, and American Legion Riders Chapter 86.
Since our charter in 1920, our American Legion Post has been welcoming VETERANS from all branches of our Armed Forces. Today, we continue to welcome all military personnel serving our country. Joining our Post enables you to continue serving your Country and Community. Our mission is to implement the goals, aspirations, dreams, peace and blessings for our country, friends and families embodied in our preamble below.
